Some time ago a customer had an off-the-wall and somewhat obscure request. The request was that they used Microsoft Word templates for aspects of their work and wanted to know whether it was possible to distribute the template documents and for these documents to appear in Windows user profiles. A solution using group policy was used to achieve this outcome. The requirement was for the template files to appear in the Documents folder in the user profile area in File Explorer as shown in the screenshot below.

A GPO was configured to allow the script to run at user logon.

The template documents appear in the user profile Documents folder on the PC.
